Park visit

The bikepark season in B.C. is quite short at some places. I always had "Sun Peaks" and "Silver Star" in my mind, both closing at the beginning of september. Sometimes you're lucky like me when I met Stefan, another German guy who had the same plans. Actually we didn't know each other before the trip but it turned out to be a freakin' rad time. Both of us have been motivated as hell, so we used to do lap after lap.

But first we had to drive quite a while where we got our first impressions how mind blowing this country is.

In Whistler - the gear was set up and ready to go

We hit Highway 99 - no disappointment!

Sunset in Kamloops

Last turn off to our first destination -
"Sun Peaks Resort" in the mountains next to Kamloops.

In summer the second biggest ski resort of B.C. is a pretty mellow place and you never have to line up for the chair lift.

Nobody in "downtown"

Just a few retired people and golfers

Mountain view

Sun Peaks's got some gnarly trails - fast and steep stuff.

Steepest wooden stuff we've ever ridden!

Up in the mountains temperatures getting
pretty low at night...

Frosty shoes in the morning

After two days of riding we headed off to "Silver Star Bikepark" next to Kelowna.

Funny little town, wild west style

6am - sunrise
First time sleeping in the back of a pick up truck

Silver Star is known for berms and jumps

Mostly we rode a new track, called "Pro Star"
(Big) jumps linked up together, German bikeparks should learn a lesson from
B.C. parks!

Exhausted, unhurt and with a big smile on our faces!
This trip is in the books, next one is comming pretty soon...

€ vs. $

Puh.

Truck it, Baby!

Ohne Worte.

Whistler, B.C:

When I started off to Whistler more then a week ago I didn't really plan how long I'm going to stay there.
Everyone knows something about the bike park mostly from pictures or movies but the Whistler area is quite big and there is so much else to do then riding the park.
I was very lucky to meet some nice people there.
This fact besides riding bikes, hanging out, working sometimes and the only thirty minutes drive to
Squamish brought the decision.

Little track a few minutes out of Whistler village...

Ages ago a train to Whistler derailed.
Since then the wagons are moldering widespread in the woods.
Riders and graffiti sprayers made use of them...

"Train Wreck" is an officiall trail which passes the wreck -
one of the nicest trails I've ever seen! More to come...

Squamish, THE town between Vancouver and Whistler has got a big trails network.
You'll find any kind of trail and difficulty!

Squamish forest road drive up:)

Trails all over the place in Squamish!

Chris again and myself took few pictures, more stuff out of the Whistler area is comming soon...
The next days I'm on a short bike park trip to visit Sun Peaks and Silver Star.

Stay tight,
B.

Vancouver, B.C.

Last week I started my B.C. trip, first stop was Vancouver.
Checked out the city, bought a car and had my first rides at the famous "North Shore"...

Early morning shore view (hostel window)

Hostel room

My new place to travel and live in:)

Rush our in Vancouver

I met a guy, Chris, at the hostel and he took some pictures of me riding the Shore.
First time behind the lense, thanks man!
"Ladies Only" is a double diamond trail - rocky, steep (sometimes) and pretty fun to ride!

At every bikcshop you can get trail maps that you don't get lost in this big and rough area...

Mt. Fromme map

This tree is massive!

Vancouver is a place where a big part of the freeride movement started, during a hike up I saw this old hidden creek gap.
Wade Simmons did it many years ago and crashes hard...

SICK!

After five days in Vancouver I started off to Whistler!
But I'm going to be back in a while.
Next blog entry coming soon...

Always make sure that old shady cars have enough coolant...
Still running well!

Pilotprojekt

Fransen war u.a. Fotomann
